Bobcat golfers prepare for upcoming season

The Bobcat golf season will wait until April 5 to tee off for the 2023 season when the team competes in the CWC quad at Summerland. Tee time is set for 1 p.m.

Originally, Summerland was scheduled to compete March 28, in a triangular with Niobrara/Verdigre and Santee. That meet has been postponed.

The team will compete in Class C2, according to head coach Bill Tabbert.

Kris Tabbert will serve as assistant high school coach and lead the junior high squad.

Cole Gaughenbaugh, a student teacher at Summerland, will work with the team as a volunteer coach.

Tabbert says he has a young team with "some experience."

"Looking for each to have improved with a year of playing behind them," he said.

The Bobcats return three of the top five golfers from last year's team.

Team members include seniors, Kellen Mlnarik, Matthew Potter, Barrett Stearns, Kelton Bruhn, Christian Behnk, Logan Kester, Dane Miller, Dylan Rotherham, Matthew Uphress, Brandon Pruden and Bennett Flenniken.

Ten students will compete on the junior high team. The first meet will be April 13 at Summerland. Teams participating include Boyd County, Elkhorn Valley, Stuart, West Holt and North Central. Tee time is 2:30 p.m.
