The Honorable Kale Burdick signed a bench warrant for the arrest of two South Dakota men who failed to appear for arraignment hearings in the Holt County courtroom in O’Neill last week.
Both warrants include bonds of $10,000, 10% cash. The defendants had each posted $500 (10% of $5,000bonds) and were released Dec. 5 following their Dec. 3 arrest in O’Neill.
Tyger L. Cortier, 25, of Pine Ridge is charged with three counts, driving under the influence of alcohol, a Class W misdemeanor; no operator’s license, a Class 3 misdemeanor; and carrying a concealed weapon ( ), a Class 1 misdemeanor.
Johnathon P. Sounding Side, 29, of Oglala is charged with four counts, also alleged Dec. 3, in O’Neill, DUI alcohol, second offense, a Class W misdemeanor; driving during revocation, a Class2 misdemeanor; possession of open alcohol container, an infraction; and display of fictitious plates, a Class 3 misdemeanor.
The two men appeared Feb. 14 when each requested court-appointed counsel. Burdick denied the requests and continued arraignment to allow them time to retain attorneys.
