Henery tabbed to lead Antelope County commissioners

A familiar face will chair the Antelope County Commissioners following a vote by the board, Jan. 10.

Charlie Henery was elected to serve as the 2023 chairman, following a 4-0 vote.

Keith Heithoff, of Elgin, was elected vice chairperson.

Commissioners appointed Tom Nelson to serve as veterans service officer; Bryan Cornett, weed superintendent; Megan Wingate, zoning administrator; LaVern Schroeder, surveyor and Brian McDonald, highway superintendent.

Committe appointments for the upcoming year were also finalized, including:

• Bond: Henery and ReginaKrebs;

• Claims: All board members, with Neil Williby as chairman;

• Finance and revenue, road and bridge, printing and supplies, school and university lands, licenses and permits, rules and regulations, illegal taxes, relief, mentall ill and purchasing commitee: county commissioners at large;

• Building and grounds: Henery, Jacob, Marlene Schindler, Edmund Schindler;

• Finance: Krebs, Heithoff, Aaron Boggs, Lisa Payne;

Antelope County Goldenrod Hills Community Service Agency: Jacob;

• Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging: Jacob, Williby (alternate);

• Region IV Behavioral Health: Jacob;

Antelope County Mental Health Board: Jacob;

• Goldenrod Joint Housing Agency, Jacob:

• Region 4/North Star Service: Krebs, Henery (alternate);

North Central District Health Department: Krebs, with spirited citizen, Dean Smith;

• Region 11 Emergency Management, Henery, with Jacob as alternate;

• Personnel policy: Krebs, Heithoff, Kelly Mueller, Deb Branstiter, Boggs, Payne and Tessa Hain or Brittany Spieker;

Antelope County Commodities: Jacob; and

• Elkhorn Valley Local Emergency Planning: Henery.

Boggs will chair the Safety Committee. Jacob will serve as an administrative member. Elected officials on the committee will be Mueller and Payne. Clerical employees serving will be Hain and Terri Schade. The Schindlers will represent buildings and grounds, while Leigh Kluthe and Ray Schlect will serve as members from the road department.

Sheriff Bob Moore and Cornett will also be a part of the committee.
