Watch out, Nebraska. Old man winter is about to spread a blanket of snow across the region.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for a large portion of Nebraska, including Holt, Antelope, Wheeler and Knox counties, effective 6 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18 through 6 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 19. Heavy snow accumulations, of six to 12 inches, are predicted.
Travel will be difficult. According to NWS officials, "The hazardous conditions will impact Wednesday and Thursday morning commutes."
If travel is necessary, be sure the vehicle is equipped with an emergency kit, including a flashlight, food, water and a blanket.
The storm system is predicted to sweep across Colorado, Tuesday and intensify as it moves across eastern Colorado.
