Caring About Kids Conference planned in Ainsworth

The annual Caring About Kids Early Childhood Conference will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at Ainsworth High School.  The conference runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., offering a six-hour training for in-home and center day care providers, preschool teachers and others interested in early childhood education. 

Speakers and topics for the conference include: 

• Kelsey Snoor, director of St. John Early Learning Center, Battle Creek, “Infant/Toddler Social Emotional Relationship Building” will show how to create secure attachments and utilize social emotional supports.   

• Julie Mizner, crisis responder, Heartland Counseling Services, Inc., “Not Just a Babysitter” will teachStrategies for managing and coping with stressors faced by child care professionals. 

• Geraldine Erickson, special education director and Susan Haskell, speech/language therapist, ESU 17: “Now I Know My ABCs—Managing Challenging Behaviors.” Learn tools to help children know what to expect, self-regulate and experience success in all environments. 

• Mandy McCoy, Dana F. Cole: “Tips for Tax Season.”

Breakfast rolls and coffee, a taco bar lunch and snacks will be included.
