Reliable, Trustworthy Reporting, Capturing The Heartbeat Of Our Community
The public is invited to attend and participate in the third annual Northeast Nebraska March for Life, Friday, Jan. 20, starting at the Norfolk Catholic School campus, 2301 W. Madison Ave.
This year’s event, which is sponsored by Norfolk Area Right to Life and Sacred Heart Parish, includes an expanded schedule with a fair for pro-life organizations, a keynote speaker and the traditional march on a new route starting at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Prayer and worship will follow the march. Both indoor and outdoor activities will be available for children, adults and families to participate in this year’s event.
“We want to educate about pro-life organizations, so we added the pro-life fair to provide this opportunity,” said Janice Christensen, event co-chair.
The pro-life fair, which goes from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will feature nearly a dozen organizations: Nebraska Catholic Conference, Natural Family Planning, Birthright, Nebraska Children’s Home, Oasis Counseling, Norfolk Area Right to Life, Bright Horizons, Abortion Dialogue Academy, Liferunners, Sidewalk Advocates for Life and Project Rachel.
Fr. Michael Voithofer from Liferunners and Ablaze Ministries will provide the keynote address at 12:15 p.m.
“Fr. Voithofer will share about the mission of Liferunners, and challenge people to get involved with lifesaving pro-life efforts,” Christensen said.
The march will take place, starting at 1 p.m., in front of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The route goes east to 13th Street and back to the church campus. During the march, the church will be available for adoration and prayer.
To end the event, a post-march prayer and worship will be held inside the Norfolk Catholic Activities Center. It will begin at approximately 2 p.m., or when marchers return to campus.
