Former Neligh man accepts plea deal

Simon M. Beacom, 20, of Omaha, was scheduled for a bench trial Dec. 7, on two Class 3 misdemeanor counts alleged June 24 – Count I, minor in possession of alcohol (age 19/20) and Count II, misrepresenting his age to obtain liquor, as well as a count of violating probation that was ordered for his conviction of similar offenses last spring. A plea deal was announced. Beacom withdrew his not guilty pleas and pleaded guilty to Count I, in return for the prosecutor dismissing Count II in the current case. Beacom also admitted the probation violation. Taylor ordered a probation update and set sentencing Jan. 18, 2023. Beacom is represented by Martin Klein of Neligh.

Taylor recently signed an arrest warrant for Hugo L. Ruano Ramirez, 43, of Clearwater, who failed to appear on a DUI allegation in September. Bond is set at $1,500. 10% cash.

Two defendants recently pleaded guilty by waiver and were fined for their offenses.

Brett A. Horton, 21, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was fined $300 and taxed $49 costs for an infraction, possession of marijuana, less than one ounce. He was cited Oct. 19 on Highway 14, near 844 Road, by an Antelope County deputy.

Blake J. Lavalleur, 33, of North Logan, Utah, was fined $150, with $49 costs for a Nebraska Game and Parks violation of game regulations, obtain permit falsely. Lavalleur was cited at the Grove Lake south parking lot Nov. 12 by a NGPC officer.
