Curtis E. Bolli, 38, of O’Neill was committed to the Holt County Jail after he appeared for sentencing in front of the Honorable Kale Burdick in the Holt County courtroom in O’Neill on Nov. 1.
He was sentenced on two counts, Count I, third-degree domestic assault, and Count II, second-degree false imprisonment, both Class 1 misdemeanors committed Aug. 7 in O’Neill. Bolli was sentenced to concurrent 30-day terms of imprisonment, to begin Nov. 7, and he was taxed $60 costs of prosecution.
David A. Hespe, 40, of Papillion was also sentenced to two concurrent 30-day jail sentences for offenses committed Jan. 10, Count I, willful reckless driving, a Class 3 misdemeanor, and Count III, leave accident scene, a Class 2 misdemeanor. The jail sentences are also ordered to be served concurrent to one handed down in Boyd County district court. He was taxed $60 costs and his driver’s license was revoked for 45 days on Count I. Second counts of each offense were dismissed by Holt County attorney Brent Kelly as part of a July 19 plea agreement, in return for Hespe’s guilty pleas to counts I and III.
Lonnie J. Hood, 64, of O’Neill appeared for further arraignment on four counts, Count I, DUI, a Class W misdemeanor; Count II, operate motor vehicle to avoid arrest, a Class 1 misdemeanor; Count III, no operator’s license on person, a Class 3 misdemeanor; and Count IV, driving without headlights, also a Class 3 misdemeanor. A plea agreement was announced. Hood pleaded guilty to counts I and IV in return for Kelly dismissing counts II and III. Hood was fined $500, his driver’s license was revoked for one year and he was sentenced to 10 days in the HCJ for Count I, with credit given for one day served previously. He was fined $25 for Count IV and he was assessed $105 costs.
Hood was arrested July 15 after an O’Neill police officer observed him driving without headlights. The officer reported, in a probable-cause affidavit, that he had flicked his own headlights off and on two times. Hood continued without lights and “quickly turned in front of oncoming traffic.” The officer indicated Hood did not stop when he activated his overhead lights until he parked in front of his residence. He did turn his headlights on as the officer turned around to pursue.
Hood was represented by Holt County public defender Rod Smith.
Burdick also fined the following defendants who opted to waive their rights to counsel and plead guilty:Dallas L. Dickau, 20, of Atkinson appeared on Count I, speeding – 16-20 miles per hour over the posted limit (84 mph in 65 zone), an infraction; Count II, no valid registration, a Class 3 misdemeanor, and Count III, no proof of financial responsibility, a Class 2 misdemeanor. Dickau pleaded guilty to counts I and III. He was fined $125 and $75, respectively, and assessed $50 costs. Kelly dismissed Count II. Dickau was cited by a Holt County deputy Sept. 19, west of O’Neill on Highway 20.
Carol A. Jellico, 55, of Amelia appeared on Count I, no valid registration, a Class 3 misdemeanor, and Count II, no proof of financial responsibility, a Class 2 misdemeanor. She pleaded guilty to both counts. Kelly then amended the complaint to dismiss Count I. Burdick fined her $100 on Count II and assessed $50 costs. She was cited Oct. 14 by an O’Neill officer.
Salvador Benitez Guillen, 35, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota pleaded guilty, by waiver, to having no trip permit and no fuel permit. He was fined $35 and $100, respectively and taxed $49 costs. Benitez Guillen was cited by a Nebraska State Patrol carrier enforcement officer Oct. 18, in O’Neill.
