Reliable, Trustworthy Reporting, Capturing The Heartbeat Of Our Community
Should Ewing reach out to other area communities to share law enforcement services?
Ewing Village Trustees discussed the topic during Monday evening’s meeting.
Village Clerk Sharon Swails reported Officer Austin Hergott had stopped patrolling in Page “because he felt he couldn’t put in hours required in Ewing.”
The Village of Page will be billed for a share of patrol car expenses for July and August.
Trustee Dustin Jorgensen said other options need to be investigated.
“I don’t care if we have to pay any more,” Trustee Dustin Wright said. “I’m paying this guy to take care of ordinances. There’s a dog sleeping on a mattress on North Street.”
Wright suggested opening conversations with area villages to see if they are interested in sharing services.
Swails said she discussed possibilities with Page officials and will contact other area villages about the possibility of one officer to patrol three or four towns.
