Frank G. Meyer, 65, of Orchard appeared in front of the Honorable Kale Burdick, in the Holt County courtroom June 14 for sentencing on four counts committed Feb. 25. Burdick sentenced Meyer to seven days in the Holt County Jail, a $500 fine and revoked his driver’s license for six months on an amended count of driving under the influence, first offense, a Class W misdemeanor; fined him $50 for an infraction count, possession of open alcohol container, $25 each on infraction counts, speeding, six to 10 mph over the posted limit, and driving on the shoulder, and taxed him $55 costs of prosecution. Meyer was represented by Ronald Temple of Norfolk.
Meyer pleaded guilty May 10, pursuant to a plea agreement. Holt County attorney Brent Kelly reduced the DUI charge from .15+ to .08.
Trent Schaaf, 35, of O’Neill failed to appear, for the second time, for arraignment on a Class 2 misdemeanor count of issuing a bad check, less than $500, alleged Feb. 24 in O’Neill. Kelly filed an affidavit June 16, requesting a warrant for Schaaf’s arrest.
Craig J. Henning, 38, of Omaha pleaded guilty, by waiver, to violating open burning ban. He was fined $100 and $49 costs. Henning was cited by a Holt County deputy April 10, near Upland Road and 503 Avenue. The officer noted, “open fire pit with active fire surrounded by dry grass and timber within a few yards, no containment system/screen over the fire, 23 mph winds blowing across the fire.”
Jeffrey K. Reiser, 47, of Butte pleaded guilty, by waiver, to shipping 10 head of cattle out of Nebraska brand area without a brand certificate, an infraction. He was fined $2,000 and $49 costs. Reiser was cited at the O’Neill sale barn May 19, by a Nebraska Brand Committee officer.
Jesica J. Brown, 45, of Loveland, Colorado, pleaded guilty, by waiver, to speeding, 10 miles per hour over the posted limit; possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was fined $25, $300 and $100, respectively, and assessed $49 costs. She was cited April 9 by a Holt County officer, west of Atkinson on Highway 20.
Cody P. Amacker, 37, of Poplarville, Mississippi, and Jonathan C. Amacker, 32, of Lumberton, Mississippi, each pleaded guilty, by waiver, to a count of hunt/fish/trap without permission. They were each fined $200 and assessed $49 costs. The Ammackers were cited by a Nebraska Game and Parks Commission officer May 12, about a half mile east of Highway 275 on Highway 20.
William J. Branson, 34, of Rapid City, South Dakota pleaded guilty by waiver to four counts. He was fined $50 for no proof of ownership; $100 for no commercial motor vehicle log; $100 for failure to carry fuel permit; and $35 for no trip report. He was taxed $49 costs. Branson was cited by a Nebraska State Patrol officer May 16, on Highway 281.
