-Isms: Views on life in rural America

Gereetings from .... somewhere.

At this moment, my keyboard is buried under a pile of paperwork as I finalize the program for next week’s Clearwater Rodeo and ship this week’s edition of SAM to the printer.

Ten days from now, I will be saying, “Greetings from Fargo.”

I know, who goes to Fargo for vaca, right?

Actually, I will be taking a road trip to North Dakota for the National Federation of Press Women’s annual convention. There, I will be recognized as one of six finalists for the organization’s Communicator of Achievement honor. On June 24, I, along with a banquet room full of fellow journalists and communications specialists, will find out who NFPW selected as the best of the best.

I’m humbled, and most days I pray I don’t let the Nebraska delegation - and my peers - down. I am beyond blessed to work in an industry I enjoy. I am beyond blessed to have a fantastic group of coworkers who believe in the vision of this newspaper.

And, I am beyond blessed that you choose to read the “Advocate-Messenger,” a paper that sprung to action after, well, let’s put it this way ... if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

I will continue to follow that mantra every week.

Now, back to work.
