A warrant was issued earlier this month for an Osmond man suspected in a May 2 gas drive off at Royal One Stop.
The warrant, signed by Antelope County Court judge Donna Taylor, orders the arrest of 38-year-old Aaron C. Poellot on a Class 2 misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking, 0 to $500.
According to an affidavit in support of the warrant, filed by Nebraska State Patrol investigator Tyler Mann, there were three witnesses to the incident. Poellot was allegedly identified as the driver of a black SUV that left the business without paying for fuel, valued at $95.21, by another driver who was waiting directly behind the vehicle. The witness also recalled the license plate number.
Mann and NSP investigator Brad Higgins interviewed Poellot on May 5, at his home in Osmond. According to the affidavit, they noted a black four-door GMC Yukon parked in front of the residence, with a tag number matching that reported by the witness. Poellot denied the theft allegation and said he had not travelled west, that he only drives to work at Bloomfield and back.
A complaint was filed May 6, by Antelope County Attorney Joe Abler, charging Poellot with the theft.
As of Monday afternoon, no return of warrant had been filed and the case was not listed on upcoming court dockets.
