A new chapter: Summerland commencement ceremony set for Saturday

Twenty-seven Summerland students will receive diplomas, Saturday, during the first commencement ceremony held in the district’s new facility.

This year’s event will be held May 7, at 4 p.m., in the school’s gymnasium, located at 51293 857th Road, near Ewing.

According to senior class sponsor, Jim Schutt, students selected white carnations tipped in blue as the class flower.

School colors - Carolina blue, black and silver - were chosen as class colors.

"Tomorrow hopes we have learned something from yesterday," a John Wayne quote, was picked as the class’s motto.

Students participating in Saturday’s ceremony include Charlie Anson, Alex Arroyo, David Arroyo, Cassidy Bearinger, Jacob Behnk, Wyatt Chipps, Logan Eacker, Anthony Ferris, Gabriel Gamez, Gaven Gilsdorf, Mason Hoke, Emma Kerkman, Calissa Kester, Kolton McAllister, Lizett Marino, Madison Melcher, Judith (Sarai) Mendoza, Luis Mendoza, Dillon Moser, Logan Mueller, Jacob Napier, Emily Nordby, Ty Rix, Gus Schwager, Keegan Smith, Natalie Stallbaum and Colton Thiele.
