Inman home destroyed by fire

Ewing, Page departments respond to mutual aid request

A Sunday afternoon blaze, in Inman, resulted in the loss of the Jason and Jill Stamp home.

O'Neill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department responded to a 911 call, received at approximately 11:30 a.m., reporting a fire at a structure along U.S. Highway 275, in Inman.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the house completely engulfed in flames.

The Stamps were not home when the fire started.

A mutual-aid request was sent to Ewing and Page volunteer fire departments. All three departments on scene helped set up a tanker shuttle to provide a water supply.

Strong winds caused embers to start grass and a nearby field on fire. According to O'Neill Fire Department officials, the simultaneous fires led to using different methods to battle the blaze.

Prouty Construction, of O'Neill, responded with an excavator, to assist with debris.

Firefighters remained on scene for approximately seven hours.

The Nebraska State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the fire.
