Antelope County career, job fair planned for January 27

The City of Neligh Economic Development Office will host the second annual Antelope County Career and Job Fair, Jan. 27, at the Antelope County Fair Building in Neligh.

The first Antelope County Career and Job fair was held March 23, 2021, to address career opportunities in the county. This year’s event was moved to January to accommodate more student participation, with all five county schools planning to attend, as well as working with ag-related industry employment timeline needs.

The career fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Job fair hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. Multiple tours at local businesses will be available for students to visit with their school.

Curriculum for the career fair is under development with the committee, working to ensure the needs of Antelope County students are met. Members of Northeast Community College and Northeast Nebraska Growing Together, as well as local business leaders, will present to the students.

According to Northeast Nebraska Growing Together, “There is a consensus that what’s best for the state today is to retain and create high-skilled, high-paying jobs and, along with the jobs, to retain the state’s most precious asset: young people ages 20 to 34 who are leaving the state at alarming rates. Without these young leaders the state cannot look forward to a prosperous future.”
