Richard C. Jelich Jr., 27, of Neligh, appeared in the Antelope County Court in Neligh last week for arraignment on two counts alleged Nov. 29 at 405 N Street in Neligh, disturbing the peace, a Class 3 misdemeanor, and criminal mischief, a Class 2 misdemeanor. Jelich’s request for continuance to consult an attorney was granted by the Honorable Donna Taylor, with further arraignment set Dec. 15. A bond hearing was held. Taylor reduced bond, from $10,000, 10% cash, to $5,000, 10%, with conditions including no contact with victim. Jelich requested condition for no contact be removed. Felicia Short also requested the no contact order be lifted. Taylor made the amendment to bond conditions.
Haiden M. Sleister, 18, of Norfolk appeared alongside his court-appointed attorney, Melissa Figueroa, on charges of third-degree assault, a Class 1 misdemeanor, and willful reckless driving, a Class 3 misdemeanor. Sleister requested a continuance. Taylor continued the hearing to Jan. 5, 2022. The defense also asked for amended terms of Sleister’s bond. Bond of $5,000, 10% cash, posted in October, is continued. Taylor amended bond terms, allowing him to work out of state, provided he sign a waiver of extradition.
Kathy S. Genia, 65, of Veblen, South Dakota, was granted continuance of her preliminary hearing on a Class 4 felony count, possession of hashish, alleged Sept. 11, along with two additional misdemeanor counts contained in an amended complaint filed by Abler on Nov. 29, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of more than one ounce of marijuana. Taylor continued the hearing to Dec. 15. A $1,500 personal recognizance bond is continued. Genia is represented by Figueroa.
Jonathyn M. Gunderson, 32, of Neligh faced Taylor on seven counts alleged Nov. 9. Gunderson, who is represented by Figueroa, was granted continuance of his pretrial hearing until Dec. 15. He is accused of: Count I, driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, a Class W misdemeanor; Count II, refusal to submit to chemical test, also a Class W misdemeanor; Count III, obstructing a police officer, a Class 1 misdemeanor; Count IV, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, a Class 2 misdemeanor; Count V, operating a vehicle during suspension, a Class 3 misdemeanor; Count VI, careless driving, an infraction; and Count VII, possession of open alcohol container, also an infraction. Bond in the amount of $3,000, 10%, is continued. According to a status report filed by Abler, a plea agreement has been offered. Gunderson was remanded to the custody of Antelope County sheriff Robert Moore, pending posting of bond.
Daniel C. Hohrein, 43, of Oakdale appeared for further arraignment on a count of DUI. His request for continuance was granted. Further arraignment is continued to Dec. 15. A $1,500 personal recognizance bond is continued as well. According to a pretrial status report filed by Abler, a plea agreement has been offered. Hohrein is represented by Figueroa.
Tracy L. Bellemare, 50, of Fremont was granted continuance of a pretrial hearing on a second-offense DUI charge, alleged July 6. Taylor continued the hearing to Jan. 5, 2022, for her to complete an alcohol and drug evaluation. Bond filed July 7, in the amount of $3,000, 10%, is continued. Bellemare is represented by Nathan Stratton of Norfolk.
Anthony Williams, 30, of Wayne appeared for a pretrial hearing on four counts alleged June 27, counts I and II, third-degree assault, Class 1 misdemeanors; Count III, obstruct government operations, also a Class 1 misdemeanor; and Count IV, disturbing the peace, a Class 3 misdemeanor. Figueroa requested a continuance. Taylor continued the hearing to Dec. 15. Bond, in the amount of $4,000, 10%, posted June 30, is also continued.
Sentencing for Callie J. Kraft, 26, of Neligh is continued to Dec. 15. She was convicted in October of charges committed last June, driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, and obstructing a peace officer. Bond, in the amount of $10,000, 10%, filed June 2, is continued. Kraft is represented by Joel Carlson of Norfolk.
James A. Kreizel, 37, of Creighton requested continuance of sentencing on a count of DUS, a Class 3 misdemeanor committed July 6 near the intersection of highways 13 and 20. Taylor sustained the request, advising the defendant it was the last continuance she would grant. Kreizel is self-represented.
Sada L. Carr, 35, of Norfolk, formerly of Oakdale was granted continuances, in two cases, until Jan. 19, 2022 - for sentencing on a count of DUS, committed Aug. 21, and for sentencing on a probation violation.
Carr admitted to violating conditions of probation, pursuant to a plea deal with Antelope County prosecutor Joe Abler. In return, Abler agreed not to oppose continued probation, if recommended by probation office. Taylor ordered an updated report and any recommendations from the probation officer. The judge reminded Carr that she remains on probation and is to comply with all terms and conditions. Carr was placed on probation Oct. 6 for her conviction of two counts of second-degree forgery.
Carr is represented, in both cases, by court-appointed counsel, Martin Klein of Neligh.
Breana L. Schilousky, 26, of Pierce failed to appear for a hearing to show cause for nonpayment of fine and costs on a 2016 charge of minor in possession of alcohol. An unserved November 2016 warrant for her arrest had expired and was recalled Nov. 3. The hearing is continued to Dec. 15, at Abler’s request.
