Carpenter receives Jolene Mosel Award

A long-time Antelope County Fair supporter was tabbed the 2021 recipient of the Jolene Mosel Helping Hand Award.

Antelope County 4-H youth coordinator Tessa Hain presented the award to Char Carpenter, of Neligh, during the 4-H awards ceremony, Aug. 8, in Neligh.

Carpenter is the leader of the Merry Maids and Muscles 4-H Club and is the former 4-H rabbit superintendent.

She currently serves as a director for the Antelope County Ag Society.

Mosel was actively involved in 4-H as a youth and during the years her children were members.

"We appreciate her (Jolene's) leadership, her volunteerism, her spirit. In 4-H, we're one big family and we want to keep her spirit alive," Hain said.

Mosel died July 4, 2016, following a five-year battle with cancer.

Individuals attending the fair were able to nominate an individual for the award. Members of the Mosel family select the recipient based on the recommendations.
