Search underway for county zoning administrator

The hunt for a new Antelope County zoning administrator is on, again.

Jenn Kester, of Clearwater, was appointed to the part-time position at the June 22 commissioners’ meeting. Under the mentorship of former zoning administrator Liz Doerr, Kester oversaw planning meetings and presented the findings at two conditional use permit hearings earlier this month.

Commissioners learned of her decision to resign from the position at the Aug. 2 meeting in Neligh.

“I have resigned from the zoning administrator position,” Kester told the Advocate-Messenger.

She will remain working in the Antelope County clerk’s office, where she has served since 2019.

The position originally opened when Liz Doerr expressed she would like to step away from the position. She also serves in the same capacity for Knox County.

Doerr was hired as the county’s interim zoning administrator in early March 2016 and in April 2016, was officially named as the administrator.
