The Honorable Donna Taylor heard the following misdemeanor cases when she presided from the bench in the Antelope County courtroom in Neligh last Wednesday, Aug. 4.
James A. Kreizel, 37, of Creighton appeared for arraignment on a count of driving under suspension/before reinstated, a Class 3 misdemeanor committed July 6 near the intersection of highways 13 and 20. Kreizel waived his right to counsel and entered a guilty plea. Taylor set sentencing Oct. 6.
Callie J. Kraft received continuance of her arraignment on five counts, Count I, driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, and Count II, refusal to submit to chemical test, first offense, Class W misdemeanors; Count III, obstructing a peace officer, Count IV, obstruct government
operations and Count V, third-degree assault, Class 1 misdemeanors. The offenses were allegedly committed June 1, in Clearwater. Kraft told the judge she had retained an attorney Kyle Peterson, but he was not present.
She also asked to submit a financial affidavit, primarily used to determine indigency in cases utilizing court-appointed counsel, but she was unsure if she would request appointment of an attorney.
Taylor continued arraignment to Aug. 18. Bond, in the amount of $10,000, 10% cash, filed June 2, is continued.
Matthew F. Brandt, 34, of Royal did not appear for sentencing on his conviction of leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, a Class 2 misdemeanor committed Jan 28 in Orchard.
His attorney, public defender Melissa Figueroa, who appeared on his behalf, said he was stranded in McCook after taking a relative to an airport the preceding day.
Granting continuance to Aug. 18, Taylor said, “If he fails to appear then, we will issue a bench warrant.”
Misty D. Fulguim, 34, of Neligh, faced Taylor for arraignment on a Class 2 misdemeanor, assault by mutual consent, alleged July 16 at a Neligh apartment. She requested court-appointed counsel. Taylor appointed Figueroa and set further arraignment Sept. 1.
Grant W. Buck, 20, of Albion pleaded not guilty and requested jury trial on two counts, alleged June 26, in Clearwater, Count I, obstruct government operations, a Class 1 misdemeanor, and Count II, disturbing the peace, a Class 3 misdemeanor. Taylor set pretrial conference Sept. 1. Buck is represented by Figueroa. Bond posted June 30, in the amount of $5,000, 10%, is continued.
Damien M. Knight, 21, of Neligh pleaded not guilty and requested jury trial on two counts, leave scene of property-damage accident, a Class 2 misdemeanor, and reckless driving, a Class 3 misdemeanor, alleged May 28, northwest of Elgin, one and onehalf mile west of the Highway 14/841 intersection.
Matthew Jung, 37, of Norfolk, was granted continuance of his arraignment until Sept 1 on a Class 3 misdemeanor count of driving under suspension and three infraction counts, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding, all alleged April 28. Bond posted
May 3, $1,500, 10%, is continued as well.
Dustin G. Dugger, 31, of Tilden pleaded guilty, by waiver, to possession of an open alcohol container. He was fined $50 and $49 costs. He was cited in Neligh on June 8.
