Bruhns opens salon, botique in Clearwater

Clearwater's newest business offers a variety of hair and beauty services to give client's a new look.

Visitors to Roots by Jaci, located at the intersection of Main and Nebraska streets, in Clearwater, may also want to check out boutique clothing shoes and jewelry available for sale.

The business opened June 8.

Owner Jaci Bruhn said she grew up watching her mom, Sue Burtwistle, work in the industry.

"I followed in her footsteps. It's just something I always wanted to do," Bruhn said.

A graduate of Bahner College, in Fremont, Bruhn worked at Cost Cutters for two years before spending nearly 19 years at The Hair Studo, in Norfolk. Roots by Jaci offers haircare products, haircuts, colors, perms and waxes.

"I will have a tanning bed," she said.

It will be a 15-minute bed, with facial bulbs.

"Hopefully it fits everyone's needs."

The boutique offers women's clothing in sizes small to three extra large. Kan Kan, Flying Monkey and Bibi are a few of the brands available.

"We have dresses, dress clothes, casual clothes, bralettes, jeans and shorts. Just a little variety."

Bruhn tends to find items she likes when ordering for the boutique.

Since opening, Bruhn said business has been good.

"Last week, with the rodeo, I had great traffic for the boutique," she said.

The hair salon and boutique are situated in a new structure, built by Stearns Construction, of Clearwater.

"I just wanted something simply, but catchy. I was going for the rustic style. And, I wanted something, if I want to, I could add on," she said.

Bruhn and her family moved to the Clearwater area two years ago.

"The kids and I really enjoy Clearwater and the people. A lot of people asked if I was opening a shop, and the kids wanted me closer to home and
