The Honorable Donna Taylor sentenced two Minnesota men when she presided from the bench in the Antelope County courtroom in Neligh on June 16.
Tyler J. Brands, 27, of Glencoe and Nathaniel A Kosek, 28, of Hutchinson were each fined $500 and assessed $50 costs for possessing more than one ounce but less than one pound of marijuana. They pleaded guilty to the Class 3 misdemeanor counts, after reaching plea deals with Antelope County Attorney Joe Abler. In return, Abler dismissed an infraction count of possessing drug paraphernalia for each. They were cited March 7 by a Nebraska State Patrol officer on Highway 70.
Both were represented by Martin Klein of Neligh.
Matthew P. Williams, 50, of Neligh pleaded guilty, by waiver, to a count of unlawful consumption of alcohol, a Class 3 misdemeanor. He was fined $50 and charged $49 costs. He was cited by Neligh police officer May 23 for drinking a can of beer “while standing in the street” in the 100 block of East 5th Street in Neligh.
Ismael Martinez, 43, of Albion pleaded guilty, by waiver, to a count of driving under suspension/before reinstated, a Class 3 misdemeanor. He was fined $100 and $49 costs. Martinez was arrested May 24 in Neligh. Bond in the amount of $4,000, 10%, was released. A second Class 3 misdemeanor count, no valid registration, was dismissed by Abler.
Taylor signed a warrant for the arrest of Joyce Beach, 20, of O’Neill. Beach failed to appear for her June 2 sentencing on a conviction of driving under suspension/before reinstated.
Donneceia McFarland, 34, of Oakdale faced Taylor for pretrial hearing on a Class 1 misdemeanor count of second-degree forgery, $500-$1,500.
The defendant changed her plea to guilty, pursuant to an agreement with Abler. In return, the county prosecutor agreed to file no additional charges (conspiracy to commit first-degree forgery, a Class 3 felony) arising from the incident and recommend probation. Taylor ordered a presentence investigation and set sentencing for Aug. 4.
Russell L. Meyer, 62, of Orchard appeared for further arraignment on a Class 2 misdemeanor charge of second-degree trespass/defy order to leave, alleged May 1 in Orchard. He pleaded not guilty and requested jury trial. Pretrial hearing is set July 21. Bond of $1,500, 10%, posted May 4, is continued.

Destiny C. Detlefsen, 25, of Neligh failed to appear for arraignment on a count of allowing a dog to run at large, alleged May 20 in Neligh. Neligh prosecutor James McNally requested continuance to allow him to notify defendant of her appearance date. Taylor continued arraignment to July 21.
William D. Anson, 37, of
Orchard was granted a continuance of his pretrial hearing, until July 21, on a theft by shoplifting charge alleged April 24 at Bomgaars in Neligh. According to a pretrial status report, a plea deal has been offered. Bond in the amount of $5,000, 10% cash, posted May 13 is continued as well.
Johnathon N. Crocker, 27, of Neligh was granted continuance Further arraignment of a Class 3 misdemeanor charge of driving under suspension is now set July 21, along with arraignment on a new Class 2 misdemeanor charge of violating a harassment protection order, alleged May 17 in Elgin. Bond, in the amount of $1,500, 10%, is continued.
Timothy A. Robbins, 43, of Elgin was granted continuance, until July 21, of his pretrial hearing on a charge of third-degree domestic assault, a Class I misdemeanor alleged March 26 in Elgin. According to a pretrial status report, a plea deal has been offered. Bond in the amount of $5,000, 10%, posted April 1, is continued.
Matthew Jung, 37, of Norfolk faced Taylor for arraignment on four counts alleged April 28, three miles west of Plainview on Highway 20, Count I, driving during time of suspension/revocation, a Class 3 misdemeanor; Count II, possession of marijuana, less than one ounce, first offense, an infraction; Count III, possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction; and Count IV, speeding, 78 miles per hour in 65 mph zone, an infraction. Jung waived his right to counsel but requested continuance. Taylor granted the request. Further arraignment is set July 21. Bond, filed April 28, in the amount of $1,500, 10%, is continued.
