O'Neill woman convicted of theft from junior booster club

Angie Robertson, 44, of O’Neill was ordered by Holt County Judge Kale Burdick, last week, to pay $7,329 reimbursement to the O’Neill Junior Eagles Booster Club.

Burdick also sentenced Robertson to a total of 30 days in the Holt County Jail, to commence May 21; a 24-month term of probation, including $630 probation fees; and taxed her $60 costs of prosecution.

Robertson pleaded no contest March 23 to five Class 2 misdemeanor counts of second-degree forgery, 0 to $500, committed on five separate occasions in 2019; and one Class 1 misdemeanor count of theft by deception, $501 to $1,499, committed beginning March 11, 2018, and continuing until Oct. 1, 2020.

The plea came as part of an agreement with Holt County prosecutor Brent Kelly. Kelly reduced Count VI, from a Class 4 felony, theft by deception, $1,500 to $5,000. In addition, the prosecutor agreed to recommend probation and Robertson agreed to pay restitution.

Terms of probation include:

•240 hours of community service;

•obtain a mental health evaluation within 60 days;

•attend and successfully complete a money management course through the probation office;

•develop a plan to pay off outstanding civil judgment debts;

•not have signature authority nor access to financial accounts other than personal accounts;

•pay restitution at rate of $500 per month, due by 15th of each month; defendant shall serve two days in HCJ beginning 16th of any month payment is not made; and

•write an apology to the O’Neill Junior Eagles Booster Club and O’Neill Elementary School community, within 30 days, must be approved by probation officer and published in Holt County Independent, at her own expense, prior to July 1.

Robertson was represented by Ashley Boettcher of O’Neill.
