Bobcats earn NVC track medals

A handful of Bobcats earned more than a handful of medals during Saturday's Niobrara Valley Conference track meet, in Atkinson.

Seven members of the boys; team earned medals in nine events.

Receiving medals for Summerland were:

Long jump: Dalton Rotherham, fourth, 19 9"

Discus: Gabriel Gamez, sixth, 115'

Triple jump: Ty Rix, third, 19' 11"; Rotherham, fourth, 39' 10.5"

Shot put: Joe Ahlers, eighth, 39' 2.75"

3200m: Eli Thiele, second, 11:14.21

100m: Trevor Thomson, fourth, 11.36

300m hurdles: Rotherham, 45.26

200m: Thomson, second, 23.62

4x100m relay: Rotherham, Kendrick Schroeder, Rix, Thomson, fifth, 47.18

The boys finished in fifth place, scoring 50 points. West Holt edged Elkhorn Valley for the team title, 119-118.

Girls results:

Hadley Cheatum picked up four medals in the competition.

Overall, Summerland finished seventh, with 38 points. North Central won the championship with 138 points, while West Holt finished second, ending with 134.

Triple jump: Emily Nordby, fourth, 32' 5"

800m: Cheatum, first, 2:27.57

200m: Cheatum, third, 27.28

4x100 relay: Cheatum, Nordby, Mlnarik, Wagner, sixth, 55.22.
