4-H council announces scholarship recipients

The Holt County 4-H Council recently announced recipients of the 2021 4-H Council senior scholarship.

Jordyn Laible and Logan Sanford will each receive a $500 scholarship contingent upon the receipt of their first semester college transcript with a 2.0 grade-point average or greater.

Laible will graduate from West Holt High School this spring. She has been actively involved in 4-H for 11 years and exhibited projects in many areas, including human development, design decisions, design my place, heritage, art elements & design principles, floriculture, foods, sketchbook crossroads and portfolio pathways.

She is an active member of the Shining Stars 4-H Club and was elected and has served as the club's treasurer since 2017. Laible will attend the University of Nebraska – Kearney this fall and major in elementary education.

Sanford will graduate from Chambers Public School this spring. He has been actively involved in 4-H for 14 years and has exhibited projects in many areas, including horse, cattle, sheep, goats, dogs, and cats, in addition static exhibits like gardening, woodworking, sewing and welding. 

He is an active member of the Eagle Hustlers 4-H Club and of the Holt County Shooting Sports Club. Sanford has competed in shooting sports at the local, district, state, regional and national levels.

Sanford will attend South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and major in mining engineering.
