Testing dates bumped back due to COVID cases

Summerland - Ewing announced Tuesday evening that school officials had been made aware of three positive COVID cases in the elementary building.

According to a text message sent via the school’s JMC message system, at approximately 6:20 p.m., April 13, “Per North Central District Health Department guidelines, we have quarantined the third, fourth and sixth grades for 10 days. Today is day one.”

Letters were to be sent Wednesday, from the school office, with a complete explanation of the 10-day quarantine, test-out option after day five and masking requirements for days 11 through 14.

Teachers will be in contact with students regarding Zoom sessions and assignments.

NSCAS testing, scheduled for next week, has been postponed to the week of April 26, according to the announcement.

Summerland School Board of Education, during its March 16 meeting, voted to make masks optional for students and staff, effective the following day.
