New coordinators to lead local TeamMates program

Two new coordinators will assume leadership positions with the Summerland School TeamMates chapter.

Mike Tabbert and Anita Tabbert will serve as coordinators, effective April 1.

They will replace Diane Martin, who has served as the organization's coordinator for seven years.

Mike Tabbert is an Orchard Public School graduate. He and husband, Brian, reside in rural Ewing, after moving back to the area following a 12-year stint in Houston.

Mike Tabbert serves as a bus driver for the school district and works as a director of the Orchard Economic Development Association.

In an email sent to TeamMates mentors, Tabbert said working as a coordinator seemed "like a perfect fit."

"I cannot wait to see the program as we move into one building," he wrote.

A native of northwest Iowa, Anita Tabbert attended the College of St. Mary, in Omaha.

While there, she met her husband, Tony and they returned to Orchard.

The Tabberts have two children.

Anita works at the Summerland - Orchard site as a cook and helps with other positions, as needed.

She has been a part of the local chapter since the program started.

"I truly believe in the program and I am so excited to see Summerland all together and see the program thrive," she said.
