Two Bobcat wrestlers named top of class

Summerland juniors Colton Thiele and Logan Mueller were named the top wresttler in their respective weight classes by the Niobrara Valley Conference recently.

Thiele, a two-time state qualifier, took top honors in the 195 class. Mueller, who made his state debut this year, earned first place in the 285 class.

Alex Arroyo, 160, and Wyatt Chipps, 220, finished second in their respective weight classes.

Named to first and second spots on the 2021 NVC All-Conference team, by weight class, were:

• 113: Hunter Bennett, Elkhorn; Carter Beckman, Elgin Public/Pope John;

• 120: Zack Hartl, EV; Owen Vondra, EV;

• 132: Brock Kester, NO; Thomas Kiemesrud, NC;

• 145: Caleb Davis, West Holt; Malachi Tegeler, EV;

• 152: Levi Lewis, NC; Austin Rudloff, NO;

• 160: Aiden Kuester, NO; Arroyo;

• 170: Conor Dempsey, NO;

• 182: Caleb Payne, NO; Gavin Chohon, Niobrara-Verdigre;

• 195: Thiele; Gavyn Claus, EV;

• 220: Dawson Kaup, NO; Chipps;
