The Summerland girls basketball team is headed to the district final after beating Elgin Public/Pope John, 48-32, in Thursday's subdistrict final.
With a trip to the 2021 Nebraska School Activities Association Girls Class D1 Basketball State Championship on the line, the Lady Bobcats will face the third-seeded team in the D1-3 district final, when they travel to Hartington, Friday, Feb. 26, to face the Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans.
Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
The Lady Cats enter the post-season tournament as the number 14 seed, with a 13-8 record.
Cedar Catholic boasts a 17-7 record. The team averages 44.7 points per game and is led by 5' 8" senior Brynn Wortmann, who averages 16.6 points per game.Teammate Brooklyn Kuehn, a 5'10" senior, averages 8.5 points per game.
Summerland head coach Greg Appleby said his squad looks forward the matchup.
"They are a good team, but I like how we are playing right now, and if we play well, I think we have a chance to pull off the upset," Appleby said.
