Summerland Public School Special Meeting
Summerland Golf Course Clubhouse
Summerland Board of Education held a special meeting, Thursday, Feb. 1, 2021, at 3 p.m., at the Summerland Golf Course Clubhouse.
President Ed Nordby called the meeting to order at 3:03 p.m. The Nebraska Open Meetings Act was posted in the room.
Roll call was taken. Present: Marty Kerkman, Ed Nordby, Nate Schwager, Steve Thiele, Jermey Wagner.
Candice Hoke joined the meeting at 3:12 p.m.
Possible motion on board member absence. All members were present.
President Nordby recognized the visitors present.
Approve agenda. There were no changes to the agenda.
Break for appetizers with superintendent candidate at 4 p.m. The meeting was recessed for social time with the candidate.
The meeting was called back to order at 4 p.m., for the formal interview.
Formal interview with Joel Applegate for superintendent of schools at 4 p.m. The board interviewed Joel Applegate for the superintendent position.
Discussion. Discuss the results of the interviews for superintendent of schools. Discussion was held.
Discuss, consider and take all necessary action on the offering of the contract for superintendent of schools for the 2021-2022 school year. Motion by Thiele, seconded, by Kerkman, to enter executive session at 5:35 p.m., to discuss the superintendent compensation package and is necessary for the protection of needless injury to the reputation of any individuals. Voting aye: Hoke, Kerkman, Nordby, Schwager, Thiele, Wagner. Nay: none. Motion carried 6-0.
The board came out of executive session at 5:55 p.m.
President Nordby adjourned the meeting at 5:55 p.m.
