NVC basketball tourney opens this weekend

Niobrara Valley Conference basketball tournament play tips off this weekend.
The Summerland boys' team enters as the 10th seed and will face Elkhorn Valley, Saturday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m., at St. Mary's in O'Neill.
Saturday games start with a matchup between West Holt and North Central, slated for 2 p.m., at SMH.
At 3:30, Santee will face Boyd County on the Spartans' home court.
A 6:30 p.m. game will feature Niobrara-Verdigre versus Chambers/Wheeler Central. They will meet at Boyd County.
A Summerland victory will propel the team to a Monday matchup against the second-seeded Stuart Broncos. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., in Stuart.
At 7:30, in Stuart, Neligh-Oakdale enters as the number three seed and will face the victor of the N/V versus CWC contest.
Other Monday games, to be played at St. Mary's, include the top-seeded Cardinals facing the winner of the West Holt - North Central game, at 6, at St. Mary's.
At 7:30, fourth-seeded Elgin Public/Pope John will play the Santee - Boyd County winner.
Girls' division
The Lady Bobcats enter tournament play as the fourth seed.
Saturday games at Boyd County include a 2 p.m. contest between Stuart and Santee.
At 5 p.m., Boyd County will face Niobrara-Verdigre.
At St. Mary's, the Lady Cardinals will face West Holt, with a noon tipoff.
EPPJ will play Neligh-Oakdale at 4 p.m.
Summerland is slated to meet the winner of the EPPJ - Neligh-Oakdale game, Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Bartlett. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
At 6 p.m., in Bartlett, the top-seeded Lady Renegades will meet the winner of the Stuart - Santee matchup.
The other half of the bracket will play in Bassett. Games include the second-seed, North Central playing the Boyd County versus N/V winner, at 6 p.m. At 7:30, Elkhorn Valley will face the winner of the St. Mary's - West Holt game.
Semi-finals and finals
Thursday's semi-final games will be played at Boyd County, with girls' bracket games set for 2 and 3:30 p.m. Boys' games will tipoff at 5 and 6:30.
Elkhorn Valley will host consolation and championship games, Saturday, Feb. 6.
The girls' consolation game will be played at 2 p.m., followed by the boys' game at 3:30.
The girls' championship will begin at 5 and the boys' game will start at 6:30.
