A celebration of life memorial service for Joan Thramer, 88, formerly of Ewing, will be Saturday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ewing, with Father John Norman officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, rural Ewing. Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church. A 7 p.m. wake service is planned.

Joan Edna Thramer was born July 26, 1931, to Alvin and Laura (Steskal) Walnofer in Chambers. She attended school at Ewing High School and graduated with the Class of 1949. On June 7, 1950, she was united in marriage to Mark Thramer at St. Peter's Catholic Church. To this union one son was born, Mike. They ranched and farmed part of the Thramer homestead in Holt County, where they lived. They spent many winters in Florence Gardens, Arizona.
Joan loved traveling all over the world and cooking. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.
Joan is survived by her son, Mike (Cheryl) Thramer of Ewing; four grandchildren: Michelle (Garth) Ostergard, Thomas Thramer, Adam Thramer and Tiffany (Matt) Hoffman; four great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn (Emil) Cattau of Norfolk; brothers: Bob Walnofer of O'Neill; Jim (Barbara) Walnofer of Orchard and Vernon (Janet) Walnofer of California; and many relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Christopher Thramer and sister, Viola Hupp.
