Area residents will have an opportunity to donate blood or platelets during upcoming drives planned in the area.
Many blood drives have been canceled, due to the pandemic, putting the blood supply at a critical level.
On Tuesday, Sept. 15, Red Cross personnel will be in Clearwater, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., at the American Legion.

While appointments are preferred, walk-ins are welcome.
Ewing City Hall will be the site of a blood drive, Wednesday, Sept. 16, from noon to 6 p.m.
Contact Doris Ann Bollwitt at 402-394-7773 to schedule an appointment.
Safety protocols will be in place during blood drives, including social distancing and temperature checks.
All donors are required to wear a face covering or mask. Valve face masks are not permitted.
An antibody test will be given to determine if an individual has antibodies for COVID-19.
The antibody test is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Results may indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to coronavirus, regardless if symptoms have presented.
Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 antibodies may have an opportunity to donate convalescent plasma at a later date.
Plasma donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds, be in good health and have a prior, verified diagnosis of COVID-19 but are now symptom free.
