Preliminary enrollment numbers show slight drop

Summerland Public School Superintendent Dale Martin recently released Preliminary enrollment numbers for the district.

Martin listed the number of students per grade at each respective site, in a report released Aug. 24.

enrollment at the three sites totals 402 students, a decrease of eight students from the 2019-2020 school year

Clearwater site

The Clearwater site boasts the largest enrollment, totaling 140 students.

While Clearwater’s enrollment shows a decrease of 11 students from last year, that number is skewed, since fifth-grade students attending the Ewing site are not included in the Clearwater count.

Current class numbers for Clearwater are:

Pre-kindergarten 8

Kindergarten 5

First grade 12

Second grade 11

Third grade 12

Fourth grade 10

Sixth grade 14

Seventh grade 6

Eighth grade 14

Ninth grade 12

Tenth grade 13

Eleventh grade 12

Twelfth grade 11

Ewing site

At the Ewing site, 134 students are enrolled. Ewing’s fifth grade tally includes Clearwater students.

Overall, Ewing’s preliminary total is a reduction of one student from the previous year.

Second grade 13

Third grade 12

Fourth grade 12

Fifth grade 20

Sixth grade 10

Seventh grade 7

Ninth grade 5

Orchard site

An increase of four students is reported in Orchard. Currently, 128 students are enrolled.

Martin said final enrollment numbers will be submitted to the Nebraska State Department of Education, Oct. 1.
