The Orchard public swimming pool will finally open after the Orchard Village Board of Trustees made the decision during its June 2 meeting.
If all goes according to plan, pool manager Anita Tabbert will open the pool June 22.
At the end of May, previous restrictions placed on swimming pools were lifted and looser rules were put into effect, starting June 1. The Orchard pool will follow the latest directed health measures.
"The biggest change is limiting the number of people in the doors and social distancing while at the pool," Tabbert said. "Our limit is 25, which includes non-swimmers, excluding staff."
Previously, the staff would disinfect everything before opening the pool, now they will disinfect more often through out the day. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, pools should be "cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces at least daily and shared objects each time they are used."
One thing that will not be changing is the rest breaks, they will continue to be 15 minutes on the hour.
"We are very thankful to be able to open this year," Tabbert said. "We know the guidelines are tricky and may change, but we are hopeful that we're going to have a great year at the pool."
