Positive cases identified in Pierce, Boyd counties
New COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the North Central District Health Department region.
Monday, NCDHD was made aware of another positive case in Pierce County.
On Friday, the health department was made aware of an additional positive case in Pierce County. The individual contracted the illness through direct contact with a confirmed case.
Boyd County reported its first positive case on Monday. The individual is in isolation at home and through investigations, is deemed to have contracted the illness through community spread. All close contacts have been contacted and are asked to quarantine.
This brings the number of cases in Pierce County to six and 28 total cases in the NCDHD region.
NCDHD reminds residents that community spread is present in the region.
“You should assume COVID-19 is present in your community. Continue to practice social distancing, good hand hygiene and wearing a mask in public settings were social distancing can be difficult,” NCDHD officials said.
Case county update and recoveries through June 2 include:
Antelope: 8 cases, 7 recoveries
Boyd: 1 case
Brown: 0
Cherry: 1 case, 1 recovery
Holt: 1 case, 1 recovery
Keya Paha: 0
Knox: 11 cases, 9 recoveries
Pierce: 6 cases, 2 recovery
Rock: 0
Additional testing for Test Nebraska will take place in the area this week.
One of the first testing events will be Tuesday, June 2, in Valentine. On Friday, June 5, testing will take place in O'Neill.
