Funeral services for Gloria LaRene (Napier) Montgomery, 90, of Ewing, will be held on Monday, May 18, at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Ewing at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Mike Durre will officiate. Burial will be in Ewing City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 17, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater.

Gloria died Tuesday, May 12, with her family by her side, at Arbor Care Nursing Center in O’Neill. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Condolences may be directed to the family at http://www.snidermemorialfh.com.

Gloria LaRene (Napier) Montgomery was born Dec. 5, 1929, to Floyd and Grace (Weber) Napier at Neligh, the last of four children. She grew up east of Ewing and attended Ewing High School. She graduated in 1947. Gloria met Lorraine Montgomery while in high school, and they were united in marriage April 5, 1950, in Yankton, South Dakota. To this union, 8 children were born.

Gloria was an extraordinary woman. She made many of her own clothes and clothes for her family. She passed on many of her great qualities to her children. She was devoted to family and had great patience for her family. She attended many activities of her children and grandchildren, and she had extraordinary patience for her children and their various 4-H projects. Gloria loved visiting with friends and family. She was always ready with a smile and kind word. In her spare time she was head cook at Ewing Public School for 31 years.

Gloria is survived by her sons, Larry (Deborah) Montgomery, Ewing and Gary (Viola) Montgomery of Lincolnton, North Carolina; daughters, Linda Montgomery of Ewing; Deb Watson, of Ewing; Kathy (John) Wilson of Scottsbluff and Amy (Kevin) Horst of Gretna; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lorraine; daughter, Connie; infant daughter, Lori Jo; son-in-law, Alvie Watson; step-grandsons, Shaun Strong and Danny Watson; brothers, Melvin and Dale Napier; and sister, Marilyn Fry.
