St. Peter parsonage gets update
The St. Peter Lutheran Church, in Orchard, has been going through the process of calling a new pastor.
At the quarterly congregational voter's meeting, Jan. 26, discussion was held about updating the church's parsonage, located directly south of the church. The parsonage is over 40 years old.
Around 20 volunteers began to update the parsonage just a few days after the meeting.
Church member Lynae Stelling said, "Many of the volunteers were farmers who were happy to have a warm place to work on some of the cold winter days we experienced this past winter."
Volunteers worked when schedules allowed.
Several changes were made, including painting the entire home, refurbishing kitchen cabinets and even removing a wall.
The team also added a new kitchen island and updated kitchen appliances. New lighting was installed and new flooring was laid throughout the majority of the main floor.
Carpets were deep cleaned and windows were washed. All three bathrooms were updated, which included a total renovation of the guest bathroom.
"We're just very excited to have a new pastor and family coming to lead our church and live in this house. All the volunteers used their different God-given talents to make this update happen," stated Stelling.
Funding for the project was made available through several Thrivent action team projects led by church members, as well as other monetary donations.
