Orchard students collect pennies for patients

Orchard Public School preschool through 12th grade students collected $402.38 for individuals with blood cancer and will donate the funds to Pennies for Patients, a school and youth program that gives students an opportunity to collect something as little as spare change to help people who have an illness.

Students participated in themed dress-up days, including pajama penny day, neon nickels day, dazzling dimes day, with shiny clothing and crazy quarter day, with crazy hats or socks featured. Friday was team up for leukemia, with students sporting their favorite team's jersey or colors.

The Orchard Public School kindness academy organized the activity.
