Olivan wins conference entertainment speaking title

Jackie Olivan may be the funniest girl around.

Judges in the Niobrara Valley Conference voted her the top speaker in entertainment speaking during the conference meet, March 2, at Keya Paha School in Sprinview.

Olivan was the lone Cyclone medalist in the 14-team meet.

On March 7, the OC squad traveled to Creighton for the Bulldog Invitational.

Olivan placed third in entertainment speaking in regular finals.

In the next-in finals grouping, the oral interpretation of drama team comprised of Olivan, Maryssa Long, Cassidy Bearinger and Kylie Hewett ended fifth.

Grace Maxwell finished sixth in humorous prose finals in the next-in division.

The team will take off the upcoming weekend and gear up for district competition.

On Wednesday, March 18, the team will compete in the D1-3 district, at Creighton Community Schools. Other teams competing include Allen, Bloomfield, Osmond, Plainview, Randolph, Rock County and Wausa.
