Nilson claims gold at OC Speech Invite

The Ewing Tiger speech team tied for second with Stuart in the O/C Whirlwind Invitational speech meet, Feb. 29. Creighton won the meet

Kyra Nilson earned gold in serious prose. Katie Hawk and Sidney Stallbaum finished first in duet acting, while Nilson and Emily Nordby ended fourth. Hawk claimed the gold medal in humorous prose.

Stallbaum finished second in entertainment speaking and third in persuasive speaking.

Three speakers placed in poetry interpretation: Elizabeth Nordby, third; Natalie Stallbaum, fourth and Olga Mendoza, sixth.

The oral interpretation of drama team—Skylar Eacker, Hawk, Elizabeth Nordby, Nilson, and Emily Nordby—earned silver. Allison Schrunk placed fourth in informative speaking, and Mendoza finished fifth.

Also competing were Emma Hoffman in persuasive speaking, Eacker in poetry interpretation and entertainment speaking and Natalie Stallbaum in oral interpretation of serious prose.

The team will travel to the Creighton Invitational on Saturday.
