Double-figure shooting leads Bobcats to win

Three Lady Bobcats hit double digits to boost Summerland to a 58-41 win over Elgin Public/Pope John last Thursday.

Ashley Koenig led the team with 16 points. Sidney Stallbaum added 14, while Tiana Thramer chipped in a dozen.

Coach Greg Appleby said the his team overcame a bout of illness to get a "good win over a good shooting EPPJ team."

The Lady Wolfpack hit 7 of 17 shots from the three-point range, hitting 41%.

"They stressed our defense in the first half with some really hot three-point shooting. Our switch to man helped the defensive effort and we had a balanced night offensively," Appleby said.

Summerland only shot 33% in the paint and hit eight of 18 three-points to finish with 44% accuracy.

One of the biggest differences came from the free throw line, where the Lady Cats shot 67%, sinking eight of 12 attempts.

Stallbaum recorded a double-double when she pulled down 10 rebounds.
