Grebin, Thiele, Erhardt finish in top three at Wolfpack Invite

Three Bobcat wrestlers earned medals at the Elgin Public Pope John wrestling invite Saturday.

Rafe Grebin, Colton Thiele and Morgan Erhardt each finished third in their respective divisions.

Summerland finished 10th in team standings, scoring 47 points.

Plainview topped the field of 21 teams, scoring 194.5 points. Twin Loup and Weeping Water tied for the runner-up trophy, with 105 points apiece.

Palmer, Twin River, Arcadia/Loup City, Pender, Nebraska Christian and Central Valley completed the top 10.

Grebin finished third in the 126-pound class. After a bye, he defeated Plainview's Kyler Mosel, 10-6. Shaye Wood, Central Valley, downed Grebin 13-0. In the consolation round, Grebin pined Chase Hofmeister, Pender, in 4:24.

In the match for third place, Grebin won a 9-0 decision over Mosel.

Colton Thiele ended third in the 195-pound class. He started the meet with a win, by fall, in :46, over Jonathan Ruvalcaba, of Palmer. In round two, Thiele defeated Kolby Casey, Quad Counties Northeast, by fall, in 2:34.

Collin Gale, of Plainview, defeated Thiele, by fall, in 4:51, in the third round, sending him to the consolation bracket.

Thiele defeated Grant Hawkins, of Pleasanton, 12-1. In the match for third place, Thiele defeated Tucker Alexander, of Twin River, by fall, in 1:30.

Wrestling in the 120-pound girls' division, Morgan Erhardt placed third.

She dropped the first round match to Raelyn Wilson, Weeping Water, by fall, in 2:16.

Cassandra Brown, Pender, pinned Erhardt in 2:10 in the second round.

In the 113 division, Anthony Ferris started with a first-round bye. He met Eli Lanham, of Plainview, in the second round and lost, by fall, in :49.

In the consolation bracket, Ferris had a bye before meeting Braxton Volk, of Pender. Volk won, by fall, in 1:24.

Alex Thiele also competed in the 113 division. He began competition with a bye and met Isaiah Vculek, Meridian, in round two. Thiele picked up a win by pin, in 1:41. He faced Ethan Kipp, of Twin Loup, in the next round and lost, by fall, in :42.

Volk downed Thiele, with a 12-2 major decision.

Eli Thiele picked up an opening round win in the 120 division. He won, by fall, in :55, over Hadden Kuck, of Palmer, Thiele faced Scout Ashburn, Plainview in the second round, who won, by fall, in 3:06.

Eli lost, by fall, in :43, to Riley Hadwiger, Pleasanton, in the consolation round.

Spencer Kester lost, by fall, in 2:40 to Wood, Central Valley, in the first round in the 126-class. He lost to Mosel, of Plainview, in 2:05 in the consolation round.

James Kester wrestled in the 145-pound class, dropping a first-round match to Pleasanton's Chase Pawloski, by fall, in 2:55. Kester faced Tyler Essary, Weeping Water, in the first consolation round and lost, by fall, in 3:43.

In the 160 class, Tyler Bellar claimed a 10-3 decision over Edward Haverluck, of Meridian, in the first round and won a 9-3 decision over Nolan Olrich, of QCNE in the second round.

Matt Christiansen sent Bellar to the consolation bracket, after a win, by fall, in :48. Remington Gay, Palmer, squeaked out a 6-3 decision.

David Arroyo lost, by fall, to Christensen, in the first round in the 160 division. Arroyo met Stone Swantek, Nebraska Christian, in a consolation round, losing by fall, in 1:39.

Wyatt Chipps drew a bye in the first round in the 220 class. He faced CJ Pickrel, of Fullerton, in the second round, where Pickrel won, by fall, in :16.

Chipps faced Liam Heil, of Arcadia/Loup City in a consolation round, losing by fall, in 1:33.
