Clearwater social studies instructor Dan Roeber and Korean War veteran Louis Thiele display a quilt Thiele received during the school's program. Laurel Miller, science and math teacher, constructed the quilt. Each year, Roeber's government class presents information about a specific war and presents a quilt to a local veteran who served during that time period.
Ewing junior Trevor Stamp presents a metalwork design he made to his dad, Jason, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Operation Desert Storm. The presentation was made during Ewing Public School's veterans day program.
Orchard American Legion member Galan Gibbs (center) provides instructions on the proper method of folding a flag to Gage Clifton and Levi Cronk. Students from various classes participated in the etiquette lesson.
Veterans Day took on special significance, Monday, Nov. 11, as Summerland communities showed appreciation for veterans who have fought for and continue to defend our country's freedoms.
