Years from now, when Summerland Bobcat fans rewind history and review memories of the cooperatives' first year, the list of accomplishments of the volleyball team will include a monumental moment: a trip to the 2019 NSAA State volleyball Championships.
The Bobcats were unstoppable, Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Class C2-8 district final, sweeping South Loup, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-11.
Tiana Thramer played superbly at the net, slamming 11 kills and nailing 5 solo blocks.
Ashley Koenig contributed 10 kills and 10 digs.
At the service line, Avery Cheatum led the Bobcats with five aces.
The win puts the Bobcats in the Class C2 bracket as the sixth seed, with a 28-5 record. They will play Grand Island Central Catholic, the third seed, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, at Lincoln Southwest High School, 7001 S. 14th Street.
A win will set send the Bobcats to a 3 p.m. match, Friday, Nov. 8, against the winner of the Superior (29-2) vs. Wisner-Pilger (22-11) contest.
The game will be played at Pinnacle Bank Arena on the north court.
The Class C2 championship will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Devaney Center.
The third place match will be played at Lincoln East, beginning at 3 p.m.
Fans are reminded a clear bag policy is in effect at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Allowable bags include:
• A clear plastic bag no larger than 12" x 12" x 6"
• A small clutch purse or wallet, no larger than 4.5" x 6.5"
• A one gallon clear plastic freezer bag.
