Creighton contains Cyclones

Macke rushes for 179 yards

The defending class C1 state champions visited Clearwater, Sept. 6, and continued their winning ways, as the Creighton Bulldogs handed OC a 40-0 homecoming loss.

Clay Curtis struck the end zone first, scooting in from 21 yards. The PAT failed.

Brayden Zimmerer gave Creighton a 12-0 lead with a 35-yard run. Curtis converted the PAT to go up 14-0.

The Cyclone defense held Creighton to one second quarter score, when Curtis ran it in from the one-yard line. The PAT failed.

Easton Pavlik returned a Cyclones punt 50 yards for the first score of the third quarter. The PAT was unsuccessful. Sam Vortherms added a 6-yard run and threw a successful PAT pass to Brian Johnson to give the visitors a 34-0 lead.

In the final quarter, Thad Hazen ran 30 yards to protect the Bulldogs lead.

Despite the lopsided score, the Cyclones amassed 298 all-purpose yards.

Senior Eli Macke carried the ball 39 times for 179 yards.

Macke led the defense with 9 tackles, while Tyler Bellar added 6.
