Full slate of activities planned for Orchard Days

Plenty of activities for everyone are scheduled for Orchard Celebration Days.

The annual community event will begin Friday, July 26 and continue until Sunday, July 28.

A broasted chicken dinner will be served at the Rex, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday.

Several activities will begin at 5 p.m., including duck races at the Orchard pool, brownie sundaes and a food cart.

Register for the road rally downtown and head out on the route from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Cruise night is scheduled to begin at 7, along with a trivia contest.

A free children’s movie, Space Jam, will play at the Rex at 7.

Double D’s will be open and have an open juke box Friday evening.

Be sure to stop by Sugarz throughout the weekend. They will be serving Indian tacos, walking tacos and nachos from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

Dusty’s will also be serving up fun celebration treats, including funnel cakes, fried oreos and cotton candy, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday events kick off with donuts in the park, from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

First serve for coed volleyball is slated to begin at 8 a.m. Cost for a four-person team is $100. Proceeds will go toward an aircat volleyball machine.

Orchard Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor kids’ games at the ballfield, beginning at 10 a.m.

Dodge ball and leader board games will follow the kids’ games and continue until 5 p.m.

Lunch will be served at the volleyball courts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

An ice cream stand will be set up at the kids’ games and downtown, from noon until 3 p.m. A freewill donation will be accepted.

Members of the Bobcats volleyball team will sponsor a car wash from noon until 3 p.m.

Drop off and pick up vehicles north of Dusty’s.

From 1 to 5 p.m., make a splash at the free swim party at the Orchard pool.

At 2 p.m., relive the historic moon landing with a showing of “Apollo 11” at the Rex, sponsored by the Orchard Historical Society.

A freewill donation will be accepted.

The food car will be available, beginning at 4 p.m.

The Orchard Young Men’s Club will host the fifth annual cornhole tourney. Registration will start at 2:30 p.m., under the tent.

Registration fee is $30 per team.

Prairie Thunder will play at the free street dance, from 8 p.m. until midnight.

A beer garden will be available.

Hot pancakes will be served Sunday, July 28, at 9 a.m., at the Orchard Fire Hall.

Head to the park for a community church service at 10 a.m.

Sugarz will serve its regular menu, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Double D’s will open at noon.

The parade, themed Blast-off to the Summerland Bobcats, celebrating Apollo 11’s 50th anniversary moon landing, will begin at 3 p.m.

Kids may enjoy inflatables from 4 to 7 p.m. and games, sponsored by the Historical Society.

Ice cream delights will be served at the Rex from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the District 57 one room school house will be open.

A community beef barbecue will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Double D’s will host a beer pong tournament at 6 p.m.
