    The Nebraska State Patrol has completed a season-long effort to keep fans safe as they travel to and from Husker football games. Troopers spent gamedays patrolling roadways, monitoring from the air and assisting with security in and around Memorial Stadium. On gamedays this fall, troopers made 54 arrests for driving under the influence. Troopers also issued 46 citations for speeding, 16 for driving under suspension, 19 open alcohol container, 12 no seat belt, and eight improper child restraint.   • Nitrogen Reduction Incentive Program applications open

    The Upper Elkhorn Natural Resources District (UENRD) is accepting applications until January 10, 2025 for the state's Nitrogen Reduction Incentive Program. Producers in qualifying areas have the potential to be paid for reducing their nitrogen application amounts by the lesser of 40lbs or by 15%.     Preliminary results from the 2024 Nebraska November firearm deer season show statewide harvest was down 2% from 2023 and down 24% from the 2019-2023 average. This was more successful than expected for the Nov. 16-24 season as November firearm permit quotas were reduced 13% from 2023 in response to declining deer populations.     The Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail sections near Neligh and Long Pine have reopened to the public after repairs were made from the 2019 Elkhorn River flood. Repairs two miles west of Neligh included bank stabilization and new trail surfacing. Trail users now can enjoy a closer view of the Elkhorn River in this area.   • Troopers wrap-up Make It Click campaign

    Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol removed 52 impaired drivers from the road during the Make It Click campaign, which ran from Nov. 23 through Dec. 1. Troopers arrested 52 drivers for driving under the influence and issued 44 citations for seat belt and child safety seat violations.
