Corn in the Summerland FFA test plot was sky high by the Fourth of July. Some of the rows shot toward the sun, towering over other varieties. Summerland FFA members watch as a sample is taken from a corn hybrid picked on the FFA test plot, located at Napier Farms, north of the school. Last spring, hybrids from Pioneer, Channel, NC+, Golden Harvest, Brevant, and DeKalb were planted. A test plot event was held last month. Pioneer P1170AM finished first, with an average of 327.1 bushels per acre.
