The Lady Bobcats downed Neligh-Oakdale, Monday, during the second round of the Niobrara Valley Conference volleyball tournament. Summerland volleyball welcomes a new coach in the team’s sophomore season. Rachael Cheatum takes the helm for the Bobcats. Orchard school board members took no official action, other than consent agenda items when they met in the high school business room Wednesday, Feb. 4. Orchard principal Cathy Cooper told board members negotiations with the teachers’ association had been completed, with the 2020-2021 base salary for Summerland teachers set at $35,000. Ewing senior Sidney Stallbaum will continue her volleyball career as a member of the Midland University team. In front of family, coaches and friends, Stallbaum signed a letter of intent, Dec. 17, at Ewing Public Schools. Summerland Volleyball Coach Suz Funk made history Saturday. When the Bobcats last kill landed on the West Holt floor, Funk picked up career win number 300. The 2019 season marks Funk's 16th year as a head coach, with 15 of those at the helm of the Ewing Tigers.
