Summerland's one-act performance of Jerome McDonough's "Dirge" earned a super rating at the C1-4 district competition, held Dec. 4 in Atkinson. Coach Julie Harley said five cast members received outstanding performance recognition, including Lenora Kester, Raina Krebs, Carlee Livingston, Mathew Umphress and Aubrey Parker. A dozen Summerland art students brought home approximately 35 awards from the Niobrara Valley Conference art show, held in Bassett, April 26. Caydence Schumacher received three judge's merit awards for Marilyn Monroe, Avator and a bird watercolor. The Nebraska School Activities Association and the Nebraska State College System have announced the 15,970 recipients of the 2023-2024 Nebraska State Colleges Multi-Activity Student Award.
